Alter Aeon July 2026 Update

Happy summer, everybody! I hope everyone who visited Alter Aeon during the past two weeks was able to enjoy our recently concluded Summer Solstice Celebration event! Our next game-wide system event will be the End-of-Summer event and will likely be in early September. More details will be provided when we are closer to the event! Last month, we released three new areas: the City of Ruthien, the prestige center instance thereof, and the nearby Ruritanian Forest. These are all level 33 area located in the southwest of the continent of Atmir. A couple new ship related updates were introduced last month, including: - A new ship type: galleon, a heavy class vessel. - A new ship command: lookout. Call out to the lookout on your ship and they'll give you a brief description of nearby locations. Other updates include: - A new level 40 unguent: ‘spirit buster’ that adds the 'magic' damage type to non-magical gauntlets and boots, allowing them to make attacks against ethereal creatures. - New creatures were added to heraldry, mostly birds. - The gold output of certain jobs that send you to other planes was buffed. - There has been some reorganizing of the wood gathering table to make any particular kind of wood easier to harvest. - The ‘charm person’ spell now only works on humanoids, as described on the help page. - The 'perform' command can now target specific instruments, as long they are held, wielded, worn on the neck or are on the ground (like a piano). - The 'set midi' command is no longer a simple toggle. You can specific a volume between 0 and 100 for the MIDI output. - All possible MIDI instruments now exist as in-game instruments, for those who have completionist tendencies... - The MIDI module for Mush-Z should now be part of the client's download. Forthcoming: Work continues on improving the coastline of the continent of Ramanek, and the equipment and areas of Ramanek are being upgraded from level 42 to 44. Work also continues on Nightmare Plane solo zones with a possible release in November. More content is on the way for southwest Atmir, creating group 4 size zones and other new content that connects existing areas together. Alter Aeon June 2026 Update

Later this month on Alter Aeon we will be having a game-wide event known as the Summer Solstice Celebration! This year’s event will begin on Monday, June 22nd, the day after the Summer Solstice and Father’s Day incidentally, and will end Monday, July 6th. This two week long event will feature the legendary Starving Rock and Puzzlewood Mire areas. Starving Rock is marathon event to see how many mobs you can kill within the two weeks. The Puzzlewood is a challenging zone meant to tackled by a large group of high-level players. It features waves of monsters that increase in strength with each successive wave. Killing a set amount of mobs generates a boss mob, and when that boss mob is defeated the instance advances to the next wave. Rules on how to complete these challenges will appear in the event description when it is active. How many waves can you defeat this year? A few days ago, the City of Ruthien and Ruritanian Forest areas were opened to the public. These are level 34 areas in southwest Atmir. Work continues on re-leveling areas, mobs and objects throughout continent of Ramanek, as well finishing the coastline that will encircle all of Ramanek with all kinds of new mobs, fame, equipment, and other little fun surprises. Other additions to the game in May include: - The words "why", "what", and "when" were added to the parser, since we've have "how", "where" and "who", in order to assist new players who might type questions into the prompt. - Petitioned angelic healing should now attempt to remove blindness, stunned, bleeding and crippled conditions. - If a mob is entangled or affected by the ‘hold undead’ spell, its ground-string will be changed to reflect this. - Warrior combos are now slightly more aggressive about stunning. - A check that prevented warrior power attacks from applying extra hitroll against non-living mob types was removed. - We added a 'perform list' command to see how many different unique instruments you've played. (It is not retroactive.) - MIDI output should now be functional for in-game musical instruments. An out-of-band signal "kxwt_MIDI" transmits raw MIDI data in hex for clients to pick up. The newest version of the Linux dclient plays MIDI natively. Testing continues to make this feature available for the Windows and MacOS versions. Alter Aeon May 2026 Update

Here’s the latest news from Alter Aeon! There are no major game events schedules for May. Our next system wide game event, the Summer Solstice Celebration, will occur in June. Details will be provide in next month’s update. Here are some updates from last month: - Rocs, phoenixes and thunderbirds summoned via the ‘call legendary raptor’ skill have improved stats, including increased dexterity and somewhat faster special attacks. Thunderbirds made more resistant to breath damage. - You can now see what kind of foods you can give to your called animals by looking at them. Note this only works for the person they are following. - Improvements to the output of the ports command when listing ports by name and 'ship buy list' command. - The ship job distance factoring should now be more generous for long trips. - There are now ship achievements related to the number of unique ports you personally visit. - You can now transfer cargo between ships using the 'ship transfer' command. The other ship must have a responsible player crew member aboard and an available hold. Work to improve the coastline around the continent of Ramanek with new content is ongoing. The city of Ruthien and associated Ruritanian Forest areas will be opening to the public later this month. Work will begin on the Shrouded Sea, which will be an inland sea south of the Green River Valley and north of the Verian Marsh. Mush-Z, our client for the visually impaired, now supports the playing of dclient music. The config soundpack command has been updated with new options: 1. Mush-Z pack 2. Dclient/MSP pack (without Dclient music) 3. Dclient/MSP pack (with Dclient music) Two new configuration settings have also been added. “Config msptype” selects the file type to use and “config msp_download” toggles automatic downloading of new sounds on or off.
