Alter Aeon

Happy New Year, everybody! We’re getting new people all of the time, so let us tell you a little bit about our game: Alter Aeon is a multiplayer player-vs.-environment hack-and-slash text adventure game with an original medieval fantasy setting. Characters are multiclass and have a choice of six classes: warrior, thief, cleric, mage, necromancer and druid, each with its own set of abilities. The game has a huge world of more than 300 areas to explore, thousands of story-driven quests to complete, and a comprehensive gathering and crafting system ranging from cooking to advanced metalsmithing. Alter Aeon can be played via a variety of methods. For sighted players, we recommend using our custom client: the dclient, which has a map and window system for monitoring your character and channels. For those with visual impairments, we have our own custom MUSHClient soundpack called MUSH-Z. If neither of these suit your fancy, you can also use another client that accepts a telnet input using alteraeon.com port 3000. We are proud to announce that Alter Aeon is celebrating our 28th anniversary of going live! We will be having a small weekend event to commemorate this occasion which will begin on Friday, January 27th and end the morning of Monday, January 30th. All are welcome. Here is a summary of recent additions to the game: - There have been many additions to character features, especially hairstyles. - Diseases can now alter your complexion and the appearance of your eyes for the duration of the illness. - Some active spell strings, such as that for ‘stone skin’, have been changed to not conflict with player skin color choices. - Tattoo artists are now scattered across major settlements of the world, and there is a new related Thirsty Thursday challenge: get a tattoo! - Certain areas may heavily favor a particular type of wood, and a handful of areas now have exclusive wood types, such as candlewood from the Candlewood Valley. - The "spell/skill list level" command will now show what skills are granted by guild membership. - Random metal drops and metal lootcrates may now contain a limited selection of alloys. - Players may find random drops of forged jewelry and tableware from various crafts in containers now. Here are some upcoming changes: - The GLASS object composition will become GLASS/CERAMIC, as glass and fired clay have many similar properties. - New object compositions: SOIL and COBALT. SOIL will be for clay, sand, dust and dirt as distinct from ROCK. COBALT will be a new workable metal but very uncommon metal. - You will be able to put in-progress quests on hold. A held quest will not show up when you check your quest list, nor will it advance or complete. The “quest hold” command will allow you to list your held quests, as well as add and remove quests from the held list. - Shopkeeper lapidary services will be expanded to allow mobs to mount gems onto jewelry for you. - Primordial Chaos, a high-level procedurally generated zone with random encounters, will officially open. - Work continues on various high level areas, including (but not limited to) The Palace of the Dragon Emperor, Garden and Keep and Port Crimsonia for eastern Ramanek.
