This year’s Summer Solstice Celebration event was a rousing success! We saw much more player participation and successful completion of event quests over the prior two years. The event may be over, but we here at Alter Aeon are keeping busy. Many new developments continue to unfold, including: - A new area was opened: The Donnerbucht, the Bay of Thunder on the northeastern coast of the mainland of Atmir, a level 38 group 7 zone. - A new level 22 necromancer ability was added: bloodcasting. This skill allows necromancers to sacrifice a modest amount of hit points to boost the level of certain of spells. If the caster has a blood-related spell such as ‘foulblood’ or ‘rancid flesh’ active when bloodcasting, different damage types will be added to damaging spells. - Tasks are now online! Tasks are a checklist of things you can do, such as gain a profession point, milk an animal or complete a daily job. Once you complete 5 tasks, you will earn an additional daily gift! - There has been an update to ‘radiant orbs’ and ‘sunbeam’: these spells will do extra damage to targets under the effect of a ‘censure demon’ curse, although not as much as with shadow or undead creatures. Casting them while you have a ‘continual light’ spell active gives the spells a modest boost in level and thus damage. - More spell components have been added to the game world to increase the broadness and robustness of brewing system. - There were infrastructure updates: cleanup of lingering bad flags on mobs and objects, fixes to the Primordial Chaos generator, and also an update to the file saving system to improve game efficiency. Future plans: - Work continues on streamlining the help page system. - The code for actions (ongoing activities that players engage in, such as fishing, prospecting, and mining) are being examined to remove rare but persistent bugs. - Building continues on Port Crimsonia, a large level 42 zone for the northern continent of Ramanek. - Castle Ket, a level 13 area for the island of Kordan rich with history and lore, should be completed soon.
